Hotel Commission: Abstract Fine Art for Best Western Nottingham Derby

Nat-Coalson-Best-Western-Nottingham-Derby-151015-006-1024pxThe owners of the Best Western Nottingham Derby recently commissioned a large abstract artwork from me.

They provided photos of the hotel lobby and made a selection of images from my abstract collections.

My creative solution is a single, large photograph, mounted to rigid board, with a canvas simulated laminate. This treatment is both cost-effective and very durable—perfect for a high traffic space.

Abstract Photography: Festiva 07 by Nat CoalsonThe final selected image is No. 7 from my Festiva series.

My thanks to One Vision Imaging in Coventry for their excellent work producing the finished piece!

Join us for Abstract Art reception 14th November

Abstract Photograph: Waiting for Dawn by Nat CoalsonA work of abstract art invites the viewer to interpret the picture for themselves. Looking at abstract imagery can become very personal as the imagery triggers memories, inspires emotions and asks more questions than it answers. Our experiences, preferences and preconceptions come into play as the mind yearns to make logical sense of colours, shapes and textures that seem strangely familiar…yet somehow remain just beyond the grasp of true comprehension. The appreciation of an abstract work of art is enhanced through an awareness of feelings, rather than seeking to draw concrete conclusions.

This inspiring exhibit presents eighteen large-format abstract works on canvas by American artist Nat Coalson. Many of the works in this exhibit are being shown publicly for the first time.

Nat Coalson Art at Graphic EncounterIt’s not often that I allow outside entities to represent my work; this is a change. Recently, after several discussions with Ron Golbus and his team at Graphic Encounter, I’ve decided to partner with them to represent my photography and mixed media work for select projects.

Since 1970, Graphic Encounter has provided artworks for hotels, hospitality, healthcare, corporate offices and many other commercial projects, and I am thrilled that they are now representing my abstract photography, abstract mixed media and travel photography works. Graphic Encounter represents a very wide range of art styles, genres and installation types, check out their web site.

Photography Exhibition in Denver

I’m pleased to announce that my photography will be featured in a solo exhibition at the Denver Photo Art Gallery in the Arts District on Santa Fe. The show runs July 1 to August 25.

The exhibition is titled An Intimate Look at Nature and includes 15 photographs selected from my close-up nature collections, presented as large prints with contemporary finishes.

My artist statement for the show: “Nature is all around us, but much of its beauty goes unnoticed. Subtle textures, patterns, colors and shapes beg for a closer look. These photographs invite you to contemplate the simple yet sophisticated beauty of the natural world, and will impart peace and tranquility to your surroundings.”

The signature image for the show, titled Flow III (above right), is presented as a 40×40-inch fine art print on canvas. The image depicts the shallow water of a mountain stream, flowing over brightly colored pebbles. As a large print, this photo has great impact and fine detail.

Please join us for the opening reception Friday night, July 1. Additional openings are scheduled First Fridays and Third Fridays through July and August. All work is available for purchase during the receptions and regular business hours, or by appointment other times.

I’m excited and honored for the opportunity to show my photographic art in one of Denver’s premier galleries for photography.
