Lightroom 3 NOW!!

June 7th, 2010

Lightroom 3 is now available for purchase/download from the Adobe web site.

My new book, Lightroom 3: Streamlining your Digital Photography Process, will also be available at midnight tonight. (Purchases now are “pre-order”; the book is being printed and will be shipped next week.)

My new Lightroom 3 book includes coverage of all the latest features, plus lots of advice on workflow and best practices for handling your photo library, and processing individual images to perfection.

My first Lightroom book (on version 2) was very well received. This one is even better… with lots more information and instruction on how to get the most out of this most essential photo software.

I’ll be posting some links directly to the online book retailers later this week. In the meantime, go to Amazon.com, and search for “Coalson Lightroom”; after midnight tonight you’ll find the new book (along with the previous version).

Please email me or post replies here if you have any questions. Hope the new book is really helpful for you!!

Those search terms only return the Lightroom 2 book. Can’t find the Lightroom 3 pre-order on Amazon.com

Gregory, thanks for the note… I’m checking with the publisher to get an ETA. Should be sometime today, though…

I bought your Lightroom 2 book, and a couple of others, and I used a couple of others from the library as well–so I am familiar with the Lightroom territory. Your book would have been the best of the lot IF you had a better Index; unfortunately the way index is assembled (or isn’t assembled) holds it back.

Still, yours was an excellent book.

Hi Bill – thanks for taking the time to comment on my book. I’m glad you’ve found it helpful! Sorry to hear you have not found the index helpful, though. Would you be willing to describe in more detail what you’d wish to see in an index?

In my new Lightroom 3 book I updated/expanded and improved the index. I do hope you’ll find it useful!

Hope to hear from you…. thanks again for your comment.

As a very enthusiastic user of your Lightroom 2 book I would very much like to download the Lightroom 3 e-book which I can’t find on Adobe web site as you suggested. Very impressed with L3 upgrade so far but would appreciate your expertise further.

I am based in UK so I guess Amazon UK will take some time before it is available here but in any event I would prefer the E-Book version which I can keep open on my Mac.

Look forward to hearing from you.

I wondered if there was any news on the release /publisher of the E-book version of your Lightroom 3 book?

Hope your hard copy sales are going well.

    Hi Nat,

I had contacted you and received your latest Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 book from your publisher for free. I want you to know that I have not been able to review your book because I have been having trouble with my Lightroom. It has slowed down everything on my Macbook Pro, and it even killed my laptop altogether so that I had to send it to Apple for repair. A good thing it was still under my Applecare warranty so that they replaced a major $600 component at no charge. However, my Lightroom is still going very slowly and so I need to bring it back to Apple to find out what can be done to bring it back up to speed. All this is to say that I have not been able to use and review your book. So, I am really sorry about that. FYI. As soon as I am able, I will share my review. Are you wanting to put my comments in the Amazon website?

Ay, thank you for your comment. I need to point out that Lightroom cannot kill a computer, especially in a way that needs repair. There’s something else going on. Replacement of a $600 component has nothing to do with Lightroom, or any other software for that matter.

Apple employees generally will try to make you think that Adobe software is evil. It’s in their interest that you use Aperture instead. Don’t fall for this. Lightroom can run on all kinds of computers, and works especially well on Macs.
